Why a Labrador should walk on a harness
A strong, excited Lab can hit the end of the lead with a lot of force, and on a collar all of that lands on their neck. A harness spreads the pressure across the chest and gives you far more control while they are learning lead manners, which, for a dog who cannot walk past water or a dropped chip, can take a little while.
Ours is step-in, so there is no wrestling a wriggly Lab through a loop every morning. You lay it flat, they step in, and the neck and chest clip closed. Both adjust, so it sits snug on a deep Labrador chest and stays put mid-walk. For the really strong pullers, our Adventure strap harness is made for stronger, broader dogs, with a front ring as well as the back one for extra steering.
On the step-in harness the lead clips at the back, so nothing pulls on the neck, and the collar is for their tag and their name. Dry everything off after a swim, which with a Lab is most walks.
